From the July 1, 2017, GST registration is starts in India. Under the GST all people who are categorized as “taxable” are need to get registration of GST and start filing monthly returns of the GST from September 2017. In this article, we are discussing about important documents needed for registration of the GST in India for proprietor, partnership, LLP and private limited company.

Who need to get GST registration?

An entity or person involved in supply of taxable services or goods in the India to persons having aggregate yearly turnover in excess of 20 lakhs rupees is needed to get themselves registered for the GST. In some states of special category such as Manipur, Nagaland and the Assam and some other states, the criteria of aggregate annual turnovers are decrease to 10 lakhs rupees.

Apart from the criteria of annual aggregate turnover, an individual need to get GST registration if he or she is involved in interstate supply of services or goods or having a prevailing registration of central excise or service tax or the VAT.

The important documents required for GST registration for Sole Proprietor are following:

1. ID Proof and PAN card of the person
2. Bank statement or cancelled cheque copy
3. A declaration to follow the rules and regulations
4. Agreement of rent (if the premises is taken on rent)
5. Owner’s no objection certificate
6. Water bill or landline bill or electricity bill copy
7. Documents required for Normal Partnerships


The documents required for GST registration of a Partnership firm are following:

Partners’ PAN card
1. Deed of partnership
2. Bank statement copy
3. Owner’s no objection certificate
4. A declaration by the partners to follow the regulations
5. Proof of ID of all the partners
6. Water bill or landline bill or electricity bill copy
7. Agreement of rent

The important documents required for GST registration of LLP (limited liability partnership) are following:

1. LLP PAN card
2. LLP registration certificate
3. Agreement of partnership of LLP
4. LLP bank statement copy
5. A declaration to follow the rules
6. Board resolution copy
7. ID Proof and PAN card of partners designated
8. Water bill or landline bill or electricity bill copy
9. Owner’s no objection certificate
10. Agreement of rent (if the premises is rented)

The important documents required for GST registration of a Private limited
  • company are following:
    1.Private limited company PAN card
    2. Certificate of registration of the company
    3. Articles of Association and Memorandum of Association copy
    4. Bank statement copy
    5. A declaration to follow the rules
    6. Board resolution copy
    7. Proof of ID and PAN card of directors
    8. Water bill or landline bill or electricity bill copy
    9. Agreement of rent (if premise is taken on rent)
    10. Owner’s no objection certificate
